Anonymous attacks Philippine Government Sites

As of this writing the following Philippine Government Websites has been hacked by individuals who call themselves as Anonymous Philippines namely:

Sites defaced:

  1. Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team (PAPT)
  2. Department of Health: Smoke-Free Philippines
  3. Institute for Development and Econometric Analysis (IDEA)
  4. Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS)

This was a response in the debut today for the effectivity of Republic Act No. 10175 or otherwise known as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012”.Capture Annonymous Attack in Manila

The different Government Department, Agencies and Bureau sites of the Philippines are still up but this does not guarantee any safety in the coming days:

Although a heroic and valiant effort for their part, but typically ideological. Bringing a message across in such a manner is already a criminal behavior and should not be condoned. There are other venues that will be more suited to voice out opinion.

Have they really read the entirety of the Cybercrime Law? Having talent for website defacing and hacking should be put to good use and not through childish play or endeavors. One of the several reasons why the Philippines could not progress is for those who cannot open their minds and put their knowledge into something that ill benefit the populace.
